academic shoot review and critique of self

i had trouble getting a focused photo as most of the kids were moving making it more difficult to take pictures of it, I also had trouble getting it at a good angle. for the most part i was just thinking about focus and holding the camera. if i got to do this again i would have taken more time getting it at a good angle and getting the camera at a better focus. I don't think i would keep much the same. The easiest to do is the rule of thirds. i think the hardest to capture would be lines. I think i know all my rules well enough.

these were the only two photos of mine that i liked the second one does good with rule of thirds, lines and avoid mergers i should have fixed the background. the first one which i prefer does well with simplicity, lines, framing for his right half and balance but i messed up with the lighting causing the shirt to merge with the floor and i should have tried to get the other kids head in as a rule of thirds and blur was obviously a problem in the photos.(i know that i need to get three or more but i only saved these two before i knew we needed three) in the first photo the focus is the kid in the checkered shirt and in the second one it focuses on the kid in the purple shirt. I think it is very clear what the subject is in the first and somewhat easy to find in the second picture.

Great Black and White Photographers II

the photographer i have chosen is Timothy O'Sullivan. because we know little about his personal life Timothy was born in Ireland in the year 1840 and moved to new York two years later or was born in new York soon after his parents moved there. he died on January 14 1882 on Staten island in New York City, New York. when he was around the age of 15 he became an apprentice of Matthew Bradly in a new York studio. When the civil war had started he went to a Washington D.C. studio of Bradly that was under Alexander Gardner at the time, soon he was determined to photograph the war. Because Bradly was taking all the credit for their photos O'Sullivan and Gardner left Bradly and started photography on the war. After the war had ended Gardner had published a book with their photos called sketchbook of the civil war. then in the year 1867 he was made the photographer of the U.S. geological survey. his first job was going across the 40th parallel in a civil expedition lead by Clarance King

1.some of the challanges were getting the camera in the right area to get the whole thing but not be to far away, keeping the camera still and figuring out what to take pictures of. 2.the thing i cared about the most was probably framing as an example the fun one was difficult for me to get metal as i couldn't get it all in frame from the side or the front so i did a diagonal angle 3. i would redo the fun one, the green one and the movie one by making fun more simplistic green by a better angle and movie by getting a better angle and change up ball a little bit with angle 4.i would only keep metal the same as i thought it was great 5. i think i did simplicity, rule of thirds, avoid merging, lines and border all well in at least one each 6. i am not really interested with doing this again for video 1. keeping the camera still 2.camera angle 3. have the camera not move 4. I would keep it at the same location but change everything else 6. no

for the one about action and emotion i chose it because she acted upon something and caused a reaction from her for the one the story it displays this by the concentration the character has implying the have been working hard and the filling the frame one fills the frame by having the sparks balance the picture 1. i picked it because it was the most visually appealing out of them all 2.balance, framing, rule of thirds and simplicity 1. i think i would like to take pictures of either an art room 2.if my art teacher Judith Cooper has an art class at this period then yes 3. follow all the rules of photography 2012 favorite best story filling the frame action and emotion
